Travel
"It is important that individuals get recompensed for any travel and subsistence expenses that they may incur carrying out their role. To be able to support the timely payment of such claims, it is vital that the travel and subsistence claim forms are completed and signed off monthly. It is an individual’s responsibility to submit accurate claims in a timely manner. This not only allows individuals be recompensed as soon as possible but it also allows for the monthly budgets to accommodate and reflect the true cost of claims.
It is also important that staff are aware that the current policy, " ...requires any travel claims which are over 3 months old to be authorised by the Chief Executive or Chairman and Director of Finance and Performance". This means that neither line managers nor I have discretion to agree to any claims over 3 months old and they have to be escalated, through me, as above.
Therefore can I please strongly encourage all staff to submit claims on time, as I will not routinely consider escalating claims over 3 months old unless there are exceptional circumstances."

Extra Training and
Medical Indemnity
For those of you who are
undertaking extra periods in general practice during
your training, please note that the claim form that you
will need to use to reclaim your medical defence
subscriptions if you are using the new system of defence
cover is now available on the Oxford Deanery website
www.oxford-pgmde.co.uk/gp/registrar_year/index.html
Please note that
the Deanery would expect every Specialty Trainee to have
applied for the most cost effective option with their
preferred medical indemnity provider. If you are
undertaking less then 18 months in general practice
throughout your training then it may well be most cost
effective to remain with the old system of medical
defence cover but please check the details from your
provider. Please note that no reimbursements will be
made without copy receipts attached to the claim.
